George came to Canada with nothing but his sharp mind and perseverance. He made his way to PEI when he was 19. He came to Canada with a dream for a better life and a desire to help people. George was a man of integrity, humility and unwavering love for his family and friends. He had a strong work ethic and passed that on to his family. In his professional life he always tried to think one step ahead. He was an innovator, a risk taker and he loved a good challenge. He loved to negotiate. He always remembered the kindness of Islanders who helped him and his growing family. He always did his best to pay this kindness forward. George was a man of faith. He believed that faith was the foundation of life. He loved his church and was a founding father of the Saints Peter and Paul Antiochian Orthodox Church. He welcomed anyone wanting to start a church, Orthodox or otherwise. He received the Order of St Igniatiuscross for stewardship. He served his adopted home of PEI for over 70 years. Together with his late wife Abla, they quietly supported Islanders, businesses, hospitals, monasteries and churches around the world.
